Mr. Attaf participates in the High-Level Meeting commemorating the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action

Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, participated in the high-level meeting marking the twenty-fifth anniversary of the adoption of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action—aimed at eliminating racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance—held during the high-level week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

In his address, the Minister of State emphasized that commemorating this anniversary serves as an opportunity for the international community to renew its commitment to upholding human dignity, consolidating equality, and combating all forms of racism and discrimination. He stressed that fulfilling the Durban Declaration requires genuine political will and comprehensive solidarity, free from selectivity and double standards.

Mr. Attaf also called for the adoption of a structural and comprehensive approach to reparatory justice as a pathway toward reconciliation, equity, and mutual respect. Furthermore, he urged ensuring that technology and the digital space serve humanity, while preventing their use to disseminate hate speech and racism or to undermine human dignity and rights.
