Mr. Attaf Receives a Phone Call from the Secretary General of the Arab League

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received a telephone call this evening from the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Nabil Fahmy.

During the call, the Secretary-General briefed the Minister of State on the action plan he intends to present to revitalize the League of Arab States, enabling it to respond more effectively to the various challenges and opportunities. The Secretary-General also commended Algeria's historical and pivotal role in defending Arab causes.

For his part, Mr. Ahmed Attaf affirmed Algeria's readiness and commitment to work closely with the Secretary-General and assist him in fulfilling his responsibilities in service of vital Arab interests. Given the growing challenges and increasing threats facing Arab states on various fronts, the Minister of State stressed the need to expedite a profound reform process that would revitalize the system of joint Arab action, ensuring the preservation of the security, stability, and sovereignty of the region's countries, as well as realizing the aspirations of the Arab peoples for development and prosperity.
